Decorations of Couplets & Lanterns
Cantonese culture revolves around handwritten couplets during the Chinese New Year. Growing up, my parents would go out and find the locals to write blessings.
Canton, known in English as “花都”, is literally the “Flower Capital”.
Due to the warm weather, there are endless flowers that are seen during the Springtime. Orchids, cherry blossoms, Kumquats, bamboo, cotton blossoms, etc., are sold everywhere by vendors at the square.
